Welcome To Road Back Recovery:

Dear Friend,
Hello and
welcome to Road Back Recovery. First,
congratulate yourself for taking a positive
step in your recovery by choosing to stay in
a structured, sober living environment. Most
people who suffer from alcoholism and/or
drug addictions never give themselves a
decent chance at a normal life. Instead,
they blot out their intolerable existence by
consuming more and more mind- altering
substances, living in denial until they end
up in one of three places: Jail,
Institutions or Death.
It
is my experience that getting sober (though
a major victory) is only half of the battle;
the real challenge is learning to live life
on life’s terms. Willingness and action are
the key elements to living, not only a sober
life, but also a happy, productive and
fulfilling one. Besides meetings, employment
is mandatory here at Road Back Recovery.
Just as meetings help build and maintain
sobriety, employment builds and maintains a
healthy sense of self-esteem. Without
self-esteem you may become complacent,
lonely and depressed. When the thought of
drinking or using drugs occurs, you might
not feel good enough about yourself to fend
off this urge, so please do yourself a favor
and be willing to grow in this area of
personal development.
Remember, too, that learning to live and
cooperate with others will not only help you
attain better employment skills, but also
help in the development and upkeep of social
skills. This, too, is a factor in the
maintenance of self-esteem. At Road Back
Recovery, you will be sharing living space
with others who are trying to better
themselves too. In order to live with
others, each person must be responsible for
his actions. This includes following a few
simple house rules and attendance to A/A
meetings. Remember, these rules and meeting
guidelines weren’t made just for you; ALL of
the residents and staff abide by them.
At Road Back,
we Lead By Example. We
never ask you to do anything we have not
done and continue to do in our quest to
remain sober and happy.
Sincerely yours,
Chris J. Cannady
